Solution:
1. From a GC analysis chromatogram standard ethanol appeared at retention time of 3.381 min. By comparing samples of wine with standard ethanol we match retention time of standard ethanol with the ethanol contained in samples. We observed following data.
In Sample 1, a peak appeared at retention time of 3.396 min showing 9.60% of ethanol
In Sample 2 a peak appeared at retention time of 3.392 min showing 16.58% of ethanol
In Sample 3 a peak appeared at retention time of 3.390 min showing 8.54% of ethanol
In Sample 4 a peak appeared at retention time of 3.384 min showing 6.28% of ethanol.
2. In Sample 2, 16.58% of ethanol is detected Since alcohol content in sample 2 is more than 14%, thus this sample is considered as a "dessrde wine".
3. In Sample 3, a peak at retention time of 3.471 min a new peak appeared which matching with the retention time of isopropyl alcohol. Thus, this wine sample is a home made wine.

In an HPLC analysis, 5.0 mg/L carotene standard sample gave a peak with a height of 0.37, an area of 7859, and a retention time of 27.8 min. On the same chromatogram, the internal standard peak appeared at 24.3 min with a heigh of 0.21 and an area of 5268. An unknown sample was analyzed with the HPLC using the same method and gave three peaks in the chromatogram. Peak 1 has a height of 0.22, an area of 5713,...
Using the GC analysis, can someone help me label the peaks,
and figure out if the fat in the unknown is from an animal or
vegetable source (#4 under V. Data Analysis)? Please and thank
you!
V. Data Analysis 1.) Identify the peaks in each of the two reference samples based on their known composition given in the table and relative elution times (Rt) in the sample chromatogram (see Appendix). Indicate which fatty acids were not found, if any, and...
After you done organic chemistry lab, the product was analyzed by GC. Your product produced a chromatogram containing two peaks with retention times of 3.4 min and 5.6 min, respectively. Your instructor said that your product contains two product compounds, A and B. (total 50 pts) GC signal analysis, C (concentration) = RF (Yesponse factor)XA (area) From the test above, you find that peak areas of compounds A and B are 2500 and 3500. Assuming that the response factor of...

What is the reaction mechanism of 2-Methyl-2-Butanol in
H2SO4+Heat. I know the 2 products are 2-methyl-1-butene and
2-methyl-2-butene which product is the major product when its an
acid-catalyzed dehydration reaction that was driven to completion
by distillation? Also on my gas chromatography graph trace which
product is which? Is the bigger peak my major product? I know I am
looking at the peaks at 1.509 and 1.612. Thank you.
