Answer #1

The weight of the object = 872 centigrams = 8.72 gram

graduated cylander has 10ml liquid. After adding the object the voluem goes to 12.5 ml

Volume of the object = 12.4 ml - 10 ml = 2.4 ml

Density = Mass / Volume

Mass = 8.72 gm Volume = 2.4 ml

Density = 8.72 g / 2.4 ml = 3.63 g/ml

Hence the density of the object is 3.63g/ml

    Chemistry exercise: Suppose you have an irregularly shaped solid, known as "metal beads", in a container, that has a mass of 19.3628 g. Then suppose the solid pieces were gently poured into a 25 mL graduated cylinder filled with 4-5mL of water where the solid pieces were completely submerged in the water and the new water level should be < 10mL. What could approximately or possibly be the final volume of water after the metal sample is introduced?
