Why the absorbance increase or decrease when a sample is analyzed and measured throughout the flame height?
The answer for this question can be answered if we study the flame profile first
The temperature of the flame is not the same all the length of the flame
The absorbance that we get in this experiment is due to the excited atoms that ionise in the flame
It changes as we down or up the flame
So when a sample is analysed at different flame heights the amount of temperature it gets is different and hence the amount of excited ions which further shows absorbance also changes
And thats the reason the absorbance changes at different heights of the flame
I hope this helps. If you have any query or want more detailed explanation, feel free to ask in the comments section below.

If a sample is analyzed in a 10-cm cell (cuvet), the absorbance will be 10 times greater than the absorbance in a 1 cm cell. Will the absorbance of the reagent-blank also be increased by a factor of 10?
3. A 2.50x10-M solution of a dye has an absorbance of 0.520 when measured in a 1.00 cm cell at 625 nm. Calculate the %Transmittance of the solution. Will the %Transmittance increase or decrease if the concentration of the dye is increased. CamScanner
1.When a tsunami wave approaches the coast : - Does speed increase or decrease ? - Does height increase or decrease ? - Does wavelength increase or decrease ? Explain why.
why the intensity of stokes line decrease when the temperature is increase? why the intensity of anti-stokes line increase when the temperature is increase?
In this experiment we injected the sample to be analyzed by Gas Chromatograph equipped with an FID (Flame Ionization Detector). The detector ionizes the sample as it reaches it, and the peak is proportional to the number of ions with a live flame. A chemist performed a distillation of methanol and water and wanted to analyze the results using the same GC instrument with FID. Could he use a similar procedure to analyze the results of his experiment? Explain why...
4. The measured absorbance of a sample in a 1.00 cm cuvette is 0.544. If the concentration is 1.4 x 10-M, what is the molar absorptivity for this species?
Part C The absorbance of a cationieron) sample solution was measured in a spectrophotometer, but the instrument returned an error because the absorbance was too high. The sample was then diluted by using a pipette to take 100.0 L of the sample and injecting it into a cuvette already containing 2.00 mL of water total volume is 200 ml + 100.0 L). The absorbance value of the diluted solution corresponded to a concentration of 7.84x10-6 M. What was the concentration...
