Answer #1

Which of the following statement is correct with regard to the blastopore?

Answer: (D) It occurs in both protostomes and deuterostomes.

Gastrula is an embryonic stage in animal development, which has the cavity and its opening called blastopore through which it communicates with the exterior. The spiral cleavage of egg occurs in protostomes when the blastopore becomes the mouth, whereas, in deuterostomes, radial cleavage occurs and the blastopore becomes the animal's anus.
