Question no. 1 Answer - paul is heterozygous for a mutation in beta globulin gene. Because it has both Hb​​​​​a​​​​ and Hb​​​​​s  strands. In sickle cell anemia there is a mutation in HBB gene(form beta globulin)

Question no 2 - there are 50% chances as Hb​​​​​s is a recessive gene.
