An adrenaline receptor is a transmembrane protein that has a signaling domain on the inside of the cell that is activated after adrenaline binds to it on the outside of the cell. Extracellular direction responds to the signaling domain face when it is in the Golgiapparatus for processing.

The cell receptors are the descriminators that receive external signals and process this information across the cell membrane via cell transducers.The binding of adrenaline and glucagon to cellular receptors leads to the generation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Adrenalin acts by binding to variety of adrenergic receptors. Adrenaline is a nonselective against of all adrenergic receptors including the major subtypes a1, a2, B1, B2 and B3. Adrenaline binding to these receptors triggers a number of metabolic changes.
