4 types of Acid base
1)Respiratory Acidosis:- Reduced rate of respiration respiration increased amount of CO2 in the body ( increased HCO3-) the increase in H+ ions increased pH = MORE ACIDIC can occur in emphysema, asthma, pneumonia.
2) Respiratory Alkalosis:- Increased rate of respiration decreased levels of CO2 in the body ( decreased HCO3-) decrease in H+ ions increase pH = MORE ALKALINE occurs in physical trauma, anxiety related hyperventilation low attitude increases respiration rate due to lower oxygen levels.
3) Metabolic Acidosis:- High amount of H+ ions there fore increased acidity ( not due to respiratory condition) occurs in ketoacidosis, certain kidney diseases diarrhea.
Symptoms:- headache, palpitations, abdominal pain, muscle weakness etc
4) Metabolic Alkalosis:- Low H+ ion levels therefore decreased acidity.( not due to respiratory condition )
Symptoms:- abnormal sensation, tachycardia, tetany, abnormal heart rhythm.
Respiratory compensation - increased or decreased breathing rate to help pH levels.
briefly explain the four different type of Acid Base disturbance found in the human body Breathing...
OLIVE OII Causes of this type of acid-base disturbance. Case study #2: A 28-year-old woman has been sick with the flu for the past week, vomiting several times every day. She is having a difficult time keeping solids and liquids down, and has become severely dehydrated. After fainting at work, she was taken to a walk-in clinic, where an IV was placed to help rehydrate her. Arterial blood was drawn first, revealing the following: рн 7.50 Circle: Hiab Normal or...
There are many different types of disturbances. Explain four types of ecological disturbance and how vegetation may be resistant to each type of disturbance. Also explain how these disturbances can increase species diversity and species richness.
Buffers are common (and extremely important) in biological systems, including in human body. One of the most important biological buffers in human blood is the buffer established between carbonic acid and bicarbonate ion (H2CO3/HCO3–). At 25 oC, H2CO3 has a Ka1 of 4.45x10–7 and a Ka2 of 4.69x10–11. a. Will Ka1 or Ka2 of H2CO3 be instrumental in determining blood pH? Briefly explain your reasoning. b. Let’s pretend that there was an equal ratio of carbonic acid to bicarbonate (note...
Describe the genus Staphylococcus, where they can be found in/on the human body, and 3 different types of infections associated with this organism. 2. How does Staphylococcus avoid the immune response and cause disease? For each enzyme/protein or substance associated with this species note how it works. What is the best prevention for this group of organisms? 3. Staphylococcus aureus is associated with many phages that are both lytic and lysogenic. What is the difference between a lytic phage and...

Draw the acid-base reaction between lidocaine freebase and hydronium chloride to help your discussion and circle the organic species that is more soluble in water. 2)- Briefly explain the role of the potassium hydroxide during the liquid-liquid extraction procedure. Draw the acid-base reaction between lidocaine hydrochloride and potassium hydroxide to help your discussion and circle the organic species that is would be more soluble in the organic...
Suicide Sul cidal patient swallowed 3 bottles of aspirin pills. What type of acid-base disturbance RN can ect in this patient? A respiratory acidosis Crespiratory alkalosis B metabolic acidosis D metabolic alkalosis 15 What is the main mechanism of any autoimmune disease? hypersensitivity of immune response B immune response is too weak (Dailure of host defense) C defect in the system of recognition "self vs non-self D none of the above 36 Anaphylactic reaction including anaphylactic shock is one of...
Nucleic acid molecules have been isolated from seven types of viruses. The base composition of these molecules is shown in the table below but the data are incomplete regarding the composition of the nucleic acid, which is given in terms of the percentage of total base composition Virus Type Base 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 T 12 - 20 18 26 23 T 12 18 0 26 0 18 C 38 - 30 26 - 24 28 G...
The following base sequence is found for a mRNA fragment from wild-type E. coli: 5'- UAUCAGUAGAUAAUGUAACC-3' Assuming that this sequence corresponds to the middle of a gene's coding region, give the amino acid sequence of the protein you would expect the fragment to encode.
2. Indicate the type of alcohol (primary, secondary, tertiary, or phenol) that is found in each of the following compounds. a) HO TO b) HOW ton c) 3. Which of the following compounds would you expect to be water soluble? Briefly explain your answer CH3OH 83
