Answer #1

The isolated organism is a thermoacidophile.

THREE DOMAIN SYSTEM

Domain Archaea

The Archaea are prokaryotic, with no nuclear membrane and distinct biochemistry, RNA markers from bacteria. The Archaeans possess an unique, ancient evolutionary history for which they are considered some of the oldest species of organisms on Earth.

Some examples of archaeal organisms are:

methanogens – which produce the gas methane.

halophiles – which can live in very salty water.

thermoacidophiles – which thrive in acidic high-temperature water

Domain Bacteria

The Bacteria are also prokaryotic; their domain consists of cells with bacterial rRNA, no nuclear membrane, and whose membranes possess primarily diacyl glycerol diester lipids. Traditionally classified as bacteria, many thrive in the same environments favored by humans, and were the first prokaryotes discovered

Some examples of bacteria include:

  • Cyanobacteria – photosynthesizing bacteria that are related to the chloroplasts of eukaryotic plants and algae
  • Spirochaetes – Gram-negative bacteria that include those causing syphilis and Lyme disease
  • Actinobacteria – Gram-positive bacteria including Bifidobacterium animalis which is present in the human large intestine

Domain Eukarya

The Eukarya domain includes eukaryotes or organisms that have a membrane-bound nucleus. This domain is further subdivided into the kingdoms:

  • Protista
  • Fungi
  • Plantae
  • Animalia

The bacterium Thermus thermophilus was first isolated from hot springs in Japan, living in an environment with an average temperature of 68 degree C (154 degree F). This temperature would kill you, but these organisms are adapted to it. One of the adaptations to this lifestyle includes DNA that is 70% G-C base pairs, one of the more extreme departures from the average 50%. The chromosome is about 2.13 times 10^6 bp in length, quite normal for a bacterial species....

1-There is a population of individuals which are geographically isolated from other populations of their species. Their population mates randomly, has no net mutations in their genome, and is not subjected to natural selection pressures. However, their population is small, only 200 individuals. The gene for fur color in this population has two alleles in a dominant-recessive relationship, A and a. If allele A is currently at a frequency of 0.8 and allele a is at 0.2: i. What do...

All of 1 A certain channel has been isolated from a cell membrane, that allows cyanide (CN-) ions, but not nitrate (NO3) ions, to cross a phospholipid-bilayer membrane. a) Briefly, explain how the structure of the channel might allow the channel to discriminate between these two anions. my assigned organism is Naked mole rat (Heterocephalus glaber). please type it. The first step in understanding how information is passed from one generation to the next is understanding how cells divide, particularly how the DNA is passed on to the resulting cells. In this discussion, you will describe the life cycle of an animal or plant of your choosing. The animal or plant you choose must have a sexual life cycle (although it may also have an asexual life...

From a research paper: “Although sexual reproduction has proven to be highly successful, parthenogenetic all-female populations occur frequently in certain taxa, including the whiptail lizards of the genus Aspidoscelis.” “True parthenogenesis, characterized by the complete absence of male contributions, has been described for various species of reptiles, including whiptail lizards, geckos, blind snakes, and rock lizards.” In your own words, define “parthenogenesis.” Several observations suggest that two closely-related, sexually-reproducing species of lizards interbred to produce the (new) parthenogenetic species....
