There are many advantages of the ELISA ( Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay ) over RIA (radioimmune assay) such as-

1. ELISA is highly sensitive and more accurate than other assay. It is highly specific for the selection of antigen and antibody.

2. ELISA uses minimal reagents while the reagents used by RIA are labelled as radio reagents.

3. As RIA uses radioactive material which can be harmful, ELISA did not use any radioactive material, it is radioactive free technique.

4. ELISA can useful for automation while in RIA we have to make some suitable special arrangements for radioactive material.
