Commonly speaking, gram-negative bacterias are more dangerous in causing diseases. There is a membrane present around the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria which increases its toxicity. So identifying a gram-negative bacteria is important to understand its epidemiology.
Studies show that gram-negative bacterias can be used for industrial purposes. For example, gram-negative bacterias are widely used for removing oil and grease from contaminated chemical effluents.
Bacteria is very useful to the ecosystem. They can be decomposers which break down the waste and recycle them. They can be some times even producers like chemosynthetic bacteria. So gram-negative bacterias are found everywhere which support the environment in many ways. So identifying one is good to study their contributions to the ecosystem and environment
