Answer #1
  • C2: In the classical and lectin pathways of complement activation system, C2 acts as a multi-domain serine protease. C2 binds to C4b in the presence of Ca 2+ , which later is cleaved to C2b, and is thereafter, responsible for the activation C3- and C5-convertases.
  • Factor B: This protein is present in the alternative pathway of complement activation. It is cleaved to form Bb fragment by Factor D, and this fragment acts as like the C3 convertase of the alternative pathway.
  • C6: In all the complement pathways, this protein is present, and is part of the membrane attack complex (MAC), and it can insert into the cell membrane causing the cell to lyse.

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
