Ans:- Blood is composed of plasma and formed elements. There are 3 classes of formed elements erythrocytes(red blood cells),leukocytes (white blood cells),thrombocytes(platelets).plasma is the fluid portion of the blood and it contains protein, hormones, clotting factors, nutrients, enzymes, antibodies, ions, metabolites etc.
1.Transports of albumins:-Blood plasma.
In blood plasma serum albumin binds with other substances and serves as non specific carrier.
2.Blood clotting:-Both blood plasma and formed elements.
Blood clotting is occur through platelets and clotting factor.clotting factor is present in plasma and platelets is in formed elements that is thrombocytes.
3.Transport of carbon dioxide:- Both Blood plasma and formed elements.
It can transport as bicarbonate ion in plasma,it can bind to the hemoglobin of red blood cells for transportation also it can bind to the plasma protein for transportation. As red blood cell is constituent of formed elements ,ions and plasma proteins are constituent of plasma blood,so both blood plasma and formed elements are involved.
4.formation of low density lipoprotein:-Blood plasma
As proteins are mostly seen in blood plasma, they are also transported through blood plasma.
5.Transport of most oxygen:-Both blood plasma and formed elements.
A very small amount of oxygen is transported through blood plasma as dissolved gas approximately 1.5% and most of the oxygen is transported through hemoglobin .oxygen binds to the hemoglobin of red blood cells for transportation.
6.Fighting infection:-Both blood plasma and formed elements
Antibodies and white blood cells plays vital role in fighting infection.Antibody fight with infections by recognising virus, bacteria, and infected cells that are pathogenic to body.WBC can sense the infection and destroy the pathogen. antibodies are found in blood plasma and WBC in formed elements leukocytes.
