There are four test performed in IMVic
1)Indole test
2) Methyl Red Test
3) Vogus Proskauer Test
4)Citrate Utilization Test
These test are performed to analyse the presence of bacteria family enterobacteriaceae & their ability to metabolize different compounds
Ecoli utilise glucose & produce mixed acid in phosphate broth buffer & brings the PH = 4 showing postive test while E. aerogenes produce acid in phosphate broth buffer bringd the PH=6 showing negative test
E. aerogenes & KLebsiella will metabolise acetoin following butylene glycol pathway which can be indicated by Barrittes reagent giving rose red colour due to formation of compound Diacetyl showing positive test while E.coli is unable to form diacetyl & shows no colour giving negative test.
In the IMViC test series, what result combination is unlikely and why?
2) "SIM" is an acronym. a) Which test is part of the IMVIC series, and for what is it testing? (0.5 pt) b) What were the results for S. pallinarum or P. mirabilis for the other two SIM tests, and state how you know this for each. (1 pt) c) Name the other tests associated with the IMViC series. (0.5 pt) d) In this test series, what result combination is unlikely, and why? (1 pt) e) After incubation, the broth...
The IMViC test series differentiates the two groups of coliforms. What are the typical IMViC results for each group of coliforms?
• 14. The citrate test is one of the IMVIC series tests. True or False 15. Organisms that give positive results can use citrate as their sole carbon source. True or False • 16. Which tube shows a positive result? Left or Right Simmons Citrate Simmons Citrate
Questions 1. What does the term IMVIC mean? 2. Why is the IMVIC useful in identifying Enterobacteriaceae? Are further biochemical tests necessary for complete identification? 3. What diagnostic test differentiates Proteus and Providencia species from other Enterobacteriaceae? om other Enterobacteriaceae 4. How is E. coli distinguished from P. vulgaris on MacConkey agar? On a TSI slant? 5. Instead of TSI, why would a slant medium containing only dextrose and lactose (not sucrose) be preferable for detecting Y enterocolitica? Name such...
please be as descriptive as possible
- The IMVIC series has characteristically been used to distinguish between Escherichia and Enterobacter. Describe, the metabolic activities of E. coli and E. aerogenes based upon the IMVIC tests. Why is it important to be able to distinguish between these two groups?
API strips: What are these? What is their purpose? Why is their use attractive? Remember IMViC!!!!!
Why are 3 day test series or 3 consecutive test series strongly recommended for occult blood test?
When five capacitors with equal capacitances are connected in series, the equivalent capacitance of the combination is 4.51 mF. The capacitors are then reconnected so that a parallel combination of two capacitors is connected in series with a parallel combination of three capacitors. Calculate the equivalent capacitance of this combination. Enter your result in millifarads.
In the IMViC tests explain: 1) How does tryptophanase cause the tube to turn red? Explain the chemical reactions that occur. 2) How and why does the productionof hydrogen sulfide cause the tube to turn black? Explain the chemical reactions that occur. 3) In the MR-VP test, how does mixed acid fermentation cause the tube to turn red and how does acetoin cause the tube to turn red in the VP test? Explain the chemical reactions for each.
Name: MAC 0. Does the following series meet the requirements of the Alternating Series test? Why or why not? o cos(na/4) 2 ln(n)
