Answer #1

Total number of offspring is (335 + 105 + 92 + 318) = 850

The highest two frequency of offspring indicates the parental type of gene arrangement.

Number of offspring in which crossing over takes place = (105+92) = 197

Frequency of crossing over indicates the distance between the genes which is (197/850) X 100 = 23 cM (approx).

You want to measure the distance between two linked genes in guinea pigs (hair color and nose color) . 1. You want to determine whether three prairie dog genes are linked, and if so what is the order of the genes and how many map units are they away from each other. Capital letters are dominant: L = long necked, I = short-necked, G = gray fur, g = brown fur, R = red eyes, r = pink eyes. True-breeding parentals of opposite phenotypes were bred to produce the F1 hybrids, then the F1 hybrids were test crossed to...

    6. In guinea pigs, coat color can be white, cream or yellow. Of these three phenotypes, only the cream-colored guinea pigs never breed true. When two cream-colored guinea pigs are crossed, We are yellow, Y are cream and are white. A cream-colored guinea pig by white guinea cross yields / cream and white offspring. a. If a heterozygous short hair guinea pig is crossed with another heterozygous short hair guinea pig, what is the probability of an offspring having long hair? You are studying the inheritance of coat color in guinea pigs. You hypothesize that dark brown fur(B) is dominant to black fur(b). You mate homozygous black guinea pigs with homozygous brown guinea pigs. All of the F1 offspring have dark brown fur. The F1 offspring breed with each other, producing the F2 generation. Your experiment results in 100 F2 offspring, 30 of the F2 offspring are black and 70 of the F2 offspring are brown. Use Chi square analysis to...

In bunnies, variations are known at two unlinked genes responsible for the coat color. The product of gene Y synthesizes a brown pigment, bunnies homozygous for the recessive loss-of-function allele y of this gene have yellow (golden) coat. The recessive allele b cannot make the black pigment. In a cross of a pure-bred yellow (golden) bunny to a pure-bred brown bunny all offspring are black. Based on this cross, which trait is dominant and which is recessive? What information lead you to your conclusion? B. Diagram this cross, showing the genotypes and phenotypes of parental, F1 and F2 generations. C. What will the offspring be like if two F2 generation...

In guinea pigs, white coat (w) is recessive to black coat (W) and wavy hair (v) is recessive to straight hair (V). A breeder crosses a guinea pig that is homozygous for white coat and wavy hair with a guinea pig that is black with straight hair. The F1 are then crossed with guinea pigs having white coats and wavy hair in a series of testcrosses. The following progeny are produced from these testcrosses: (Hint: To test for independent assortment,...
