Virus are the small living organisms with replicate only in side of the host cell. Difference between influenza and polio virus replication are listed below
1) entry of virus is different in both of case .
Polio virus recognize CD 155 cell receptor and enter in to cell by receptor mediated endocytosis.
While influenza virus has hemagglutinin at their surface which binds to silica acid residue on the glycoproteins at host surface than enter in to the cell.
2) genome of polio virus is positive sense RNA stand , which after entry in to host directly use as template for synthesis of protein.
While in influenza it contains negative sense RNA stand, which first converted in to positive sense RNA stand than used for synthesis of viral protein.
3) during replication of polio virus , positive sense strand enter in to nucleus lead to generation of firstly negative sense strand.cthis lead to formation of double stranded RNA vontaing both positive as well as negative strand . From this many positive stand can be synthesized which further used for synthesis of viral protein or may organize with protein and form new virus particles.
In influenza as it contain negative sense strand , so this strand directly utilized for replication or synthesis of new genome.
4) in polio virus during replication , primer used for both (+) and (−) strand synthesis is the small protein VPg. This protein is uridylylated at the hydroxyl group of a tyrosine residue.
While in influenza virus Replication does not require a primer. viral RNA polymerase (RdRp, RNA dependent RNA polymerase) initiates RNA synthesis internally on viral RNA. This RNA polymerase use the extreme 5’ and 3’ ends of the genome as primers. These ends exhibit partial inverse complementarity so they base pair with one another and in this conformation end of RNA use as primer.

Decribe Life Cycle of West Nile Virus (WNV) In your description of the life (replication) cycle. You must name the stage and specify which of the events occur in it. The 5 stages are 1(attachment), 2(entry), 3(uncoating), 4 (biosynthesis-replication and viral protein synthesis), 5(maturation and release)
