Answer #1

1) the mutant can grow when the intermediate D is given to the media, but it cannot grow in the presence of A, B or C, so the mutation is in the enzyme 3 which converts C to D, so the mutant cannot grow in the presence of A, B, C these intermediates cannot be processed to the final metabolite, the reaction will stop at C, so the answer is c) enzyme 3.

Questions 17 and 18 please! 17. The pathway for arginine biosynthesis in Neurospora crassa involves several enzymes that produce a series of intermediates as shown. ARG-E ARG-F ARG-G ARG-H N-acetylornithine ornithine citrulline → argininosuccinate arginine You did a cross between ARG-E- ARG-H+ and ARG-E+ARG-H Neurospora strains and identified an Arg- strain from an NPD tetrad. Drag each statement below to classify it as true or false to review the studies that revealed the specifics of gene function in organisms. For a (fictitious) haploid fungus, the starting point in the biosynthesis of the amino acid arginine is Compound X, which is always present in, and absorbed from the environment.
