When a certain population of organisms get isolated and there is no gene flow between the population. These population then go under speciation and over time forms a different species having a common ancestor.

Allopatric speciation is the most common way of speciation. This means when the population of two similar species get isolated by some geographical or extrinsic barrier and that will lead to speciation and cause the formation of new speciation due to lack of gene flow.
