How many tetrahedral intermediates occur during the serine protease mechanism.

Which of the following is not a general property of most enzymes. Answer by placing the number in the box. There is only one correct answer.

1. The active site takes up a small portion of the enzyme's surface.

2. The enzyme binds to the substrate via a few strong interactions.

3. Amino acids that make up the active site can be far apart in the primary sequence.

Which of the following is true. Enter one value into the box. If none of these are true enter a zero.

1. At high substrate concentrations increasing the substrate concentration increases Vmax.

2. Increasing the enzyme concentration increases Vmax.

3. Increasing the enzyme concentration increases KM.

4. When [S] = KM, Vo = Vmax

An enzyme that has its polypeptide chain but not its cofactor is called a(n):

Question

I. There are two tetrahedral intermediates are formed during serine protease mechanism.

IZ OHN OHN Tetahcdral Irtor odiale IZ - HN NINH HOP NN-H Tolranodral Intermediate

Figure: two tetrahedral intermediates

II. The active site of the enzyme is a small portion of the enzyme. Amino acid that are found in the active site of the enzyme could be far apart in primary sequence and come close only in 3D structure of the protein. The enzyme is bound to substrate by many weak interaction forces. Hence, option 2 is not true.

III. Increasing the enzyme concentration, do not change the Vmax and Km. At high concentration of substrate the , Vmax increases with substrate. Hence, option 1 is correct.

IV. Apoenzyme is having polypeptide chain but not any cofactor. Hence, option 1 is correct.
