The average temperature level on a planet's surface with an atmoshphere is contributed by the natural phenomena called Greenhouse effect.It keep's the surface of earth warm.This is done by absorbing the radiation from a planet's atmoshphere and warming it to a temperature above the temperature it would be,if this atmophere was absent. Water vapour,Co2,Ozone,Nitrous Oxide and methane are the greenhouse gases that are naturally present in the environment.

There are things that makes a greenhouse gase good for the environment and thing that makes them bad for the environment also. Let us discuss them one by one.

Why greenhouse gases are good for the envrironment - Greenhouse gases can trap the heat tha sunlight pass through the atmosphere,from leaving the atmosphere.This creates a necessary temperature on the surface,which is optimal for the survival of life. Otherwise the temperature would be too cold that live wont exist.

Why greenhouse gases are bad for the envrironment - Various human activities pertaining to energy production releases large amount of chemicals like nitrogen oxide in the environment.These Nitrogen oxide react's in the presence of sunlight with other chemicals to form ozone, a greenhouse gas. Ozone is something which is harmful to the ecosystem.They can cause respiratory problems in animal/human,destroy crops. Due to increase in such activities the greenhouse gases is increasing in the environment which is causing global warming effect.The earth's average temperature is increasing due to these greenhouse gases,affecting the sea level and climate changes.
