Answer #1

The central difference between boasting and admiration is that in boasting, one recounts about one’s achievements to prove a sense of superiority over the others and make such others lose in admiration or make them envious of such a one who is so boasting; while admiration other than self-admiration is basically to appreciate the accomplishments or features of others.

Self-admiration can lead to boasting though. The difference is a marked one. Boasting is generally for self while admiration is that for others. Self-admiration could be part of boasting but cannot be termed as arrogance. Arrogance is that kind of pride that arises in a person owing to the person’s self-perception in the society. Boasting may or may not be part of arrogance. In boasting, the facts may be hyped while in arrogance the pride may be hyped.

Hence, while on face of it, Boasting and admiration may seem similar but it cannot be justified for arrogance. Arrogance is extreme, followed by boasting and then admiration. Admiration is generally subtle.
