Question

We are doing a full wave bridge rectifier experiment and I am asked to make a lab report. In the conclusion section we are asked to answer questions that I don't really understand. The questions are posted below.

1.3.8 In your Summary and Conclusions section give a brief summary of the three experiments that were done. Answer the follow

Answer #1

2. Yes it is desirable to reduce the output ripple voltage, because the aim of rectifier circuit is to convert AC to DC voltage. In DC voltage ripples are not desirable.

3. The amount of ripple will be less if the value of load resistance is low.

Load resistance = desired DC voltage/ desired DC current.

RL = Vo/IL

Vo- output voltage.

4. Zener diode is operated in reverse bias to work as a voltage regulator . The minimum value of load resistance is given by

RL = Vz/IL

RL- Load resistance

Vz- Zener voltage

IL- load current.
