Explanation: Nonshivering thermogenesis is an increase in metabolic heat production (above the basal metabolism) that is not associated with muscle activity.

- It occurs mainly through metabolism in brown fat and to a lesser degree also in skeletal muscle, liver, brain, and white fat.

β3 receptors are present in the gallbladder, urinary bladder, and in brown adipose tissue.

- Their role in gallbladder physiology is unknown, but they are thought to play a role in lipolysis and thermogenesis in brown fat.

- In the urinary bladder, it causes relaxation of the bladder and prevention of urination.
