Unexpectedly, two junior members of the production department come in to see the Production Director, to complain that their Manager, who reports to the Production Director, committed discrimination, practiced favoritism in the treatment of people, and misused company’s facilities for possible personal gains. The situation demands an investigation, but also demands certain level of wisdom to handle people with whom the Director has close contact. How would the Production Director handle this complain? Discuss the immediate consequences if no action is taken and/or overreaction to the complaint is committed.
Answer) The production director have to handle this complaint very seriously and cautiously. He has to investigate the matter but in a way that everything looks normal. He should not jump into the conclusion that the manager is wrong, it may happen that the two Employees have any grude against the manager. So what he should do is basically talk to all the employees secretly and see what all the employees has the feedback about the manager and upon that give a warning to the manager.
If no action is taken then the immediate consequences will be devastating. The Employees would stop trusting the Production manager as they will think he does not care about themselves. They will be very demotivated and stressed thinking that they have to bear the manager's unethical Decisions. As there will be no action , it will also give the manager a boost to continue doing the deeds which will create an uncomfortable atmosphere for the Employees and by there will be only tension and stress in the company.
