The answer is suppose to be 560 J/mol. i dont understnd how to get this answer.......
I thought when A has 2 mol and B has 1mol
mole fraction would be 2/3 for A and 1/3 for B
then the result is
delta S = -R (3N)*((2/3)ln(2/3) + (1/3)ln(1/3))
(and this was actually the answer of (4)!)
but the result is 3Rln(2).
Where am i wrong?
what is the difference between microstates in
2mol A 1mol B
and
2mol A 1mol A ?

9 Required information NOTE: This is a multi-part question. Once an answer is submitted, you will be unable to return to this part. An insulated rigid tank is divided into two compartments by a partition. One compartment contains 9.5 kg of oxygen gas at 40°C and 100 kPa, and the other compartment contains 4 kg of nitrogen gas at 20°C and 150 kPa. Now the partition is removed, and the two gases are allowed to mix N2 4 kg 20℃...

Question 18 1 pts Problems 18-20 are based on the following description An insulated rigid tank is divided into two equal parts by a partition. Initially, one part contains 10 kg of an ideal gas with molar mass M = 16 kg/kmol, a pressure of 330 kPa and a temperature of 50 oC. The other part is evacuated. The partition is now removed and the gas fills the entire tank (R.- 8.31447 k/MOLK) The expansion work in...
I. (30 pts.) One mole of an ideal gas with constant heat capacities and ? 5/3 is compressed adiabatically in a piston-cylinder device from T1-300 K, pi = 1 bar to p2 = 10 bar at a constant external pressure Pext"- P2 -10 bar. Calculate the final temperature, T2, and W, Q. AU, AH for this process. 2. (20 pts.) Repeat problem 1 for an adiabatic and reversible compression. 3. (20 pts.) A rigid, insulated tank is divided into two...
Answer all Parts Please 4) (Conceptual question) Consider a well-insulated container of total volume V0. (a) Initially, the container is divided into two equal parts, using a very thin partition of negligible thickness. One side is filled with a mole of argon at temperature T0 and pressure P0 whereas the other side is under vacuum. The partition is then suddenly removed and the system is allowed to reach equilibrium. Write an expression for: a. Final T and P b. Change...

problem and why. Do not solve the problems. Thank you.
4-23 An ideal gas undergoes two processes in a piston- cylinder device as follows: 1-2 Polytropic compression from T, and P, with a polytropic exponent n and a compression ratio of r = V1/V2. 2-3 Constant pressure expansion at Pa = P, until V=V. (a) Sketch the...
