The major four elements that comprise 96% of the living matter include carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. Then comes phosphorus and sulfur. These six elements are the major constituents of all living matter. Other elements like calcium, potassium, silicon etc. are also present are referred as micro-constituents.
