Can you have a double bond on carbon #1 in a polyunsaturated fatty acid? For example, to take 12:3Δ3,7,9 through one cycle of beta oxidation, is it possible to get 12:3Δ1,5,7?

no it is not possible because first carbon includes C=O   group   to that we can not attach double bond.
