The test statistic formula is given as below:

Chi-square = (n – 1)*S^2/ σ2

From given data, we have

n = 100

S = 3.5

σ2 = 8

Chi-square = (100 - 1)*3.5^2/8

Chi-square = 99* 12.25/8

Chi-square = 151.59375

Value of the test statistic = 151.59375
