Following are the four factors that are usually considered when valuing the venture, along with a short explanation:

1. Competition or demand. Venture capitalists (VCs) are very competitive and they perceive an investment to be the valuable one when other VCs also show interest in the venture.

2. Growth: It is one of the defining factors for the startup because a high potential for growth allows revenue predictions which play an important part in determining the value of a venture.

3. Opportunity: It is difficult to quantify such a factor but consider a startup that has no competition because everyone thinks it impossible. Such startups are big payoffs for VCs and slap a huge valuation when they are identified.

4. Other investors: Knowing the other investors of a venture is also important because when one knows that the venture’s other investors have solid footings, the value of a startup gets increased.
