This is a transport system designed to encourage people to park their vehicles(cars) some distance away from a specific station, tourist attraction, etc, and start after their journey by public transport(metro, rail system,citybus etc.)

owner vehicles is left in the parking space during the entire day and retrieved when the owner comes after work from office or from journey.

Benifits:

These (Park and ride facilities) allow people to avoid a stressful daily driving along trafficful roads and a search for scarce, costly city parking in complex. By that ,may reduce congestion by assisting the use of public transport in urban areas where high conjestion occure.

These acilities help those who live far away practical walking distance from bus stop or metro station. They may also help to reduce fuel and by that pollution reduced due to less vehicles. so it is environment friendly of course.

Types of Park and Ride facilities:

  • Bus park and rides
  • Railway park and rides
  • Bike and ride
  • Car-share park and rides

Park and ride doesn't necessarily involve public transport. That can be used to reduce the number of cars on the road by promoting carpooling, vanpooling and carsharing. Partly because of the concentration of riders, and thus a reduced number of vehicles.
