1. The 5 stages for the group development are as follows as per the construction site project management:

1. Forming: This is a stage where the group or team members just come together and start getting an introduction and orientation towards the work and the team members like a team of constructors are coming together to start a new project. They are getting familiar with one another.

2. Storming: As different people would arise from different areas, many a times people would start fighting and even have clashes and difference in the ideas on how the construction would be done. This is storming.

3. Norming: As working together and handling the conflicts together, people would again rebound and try to understand and solve the problem like people in the construction project coming together again.

4. Performing: This is the stage where the performance is maximum and all the workers are now working best as per their effectivity and efficiency because of the time and efforts spend together making them familiar with their jobs.

5. Adjourning: Finally the construction project is completed and the work is done. The group would now be adjourned or disparted as the goal of the construction is achieved.

2. 5 effective characteristics of an effective virtual team are:

1. Clear direction: The first effective characteristic is having a clear direction for your group to move forward. Virtual groups are required to have the clear direction for their effective working as stated in the objectives and plans.

2. Open and honest communication: Another important requirements for an effective team is to have open and honest communication. Virtual teams are often asked to have communication and feedback to make sure the right work is done and met.

3. Support risk taking and change: Change and risk management should be properly managed and controlled in an effective team. The team members should be innovative and flexible to adapt any risk and change and conquer them accordingly.

4. Defined roles: Every team member in a team should have a definite role to achieve the team effectivity. This helps in generation of clarity and also ensures better working productivity and less confusion.

5. Mutually accountable: At last to be an effective team, every member has to be accountable on one another to achieve the best of goals and operations.

3. Manager of a business would decide if the particular project should be worked individual based or team based on the basis of the requirements of the project. If the project is requiring many specifications and targets to meet, teams are allocated as teams help to increase the better productivity and growth. If the project is having various different elements and have a bigger scope, then teams would make an effective choice to make the project achieve its objectives and standards. The team size of the project is solely based upon the type of project, the project length, the labour costs as per the WBS structure and how much days are being available with us and with the team to achieve the objectives.
