Describe how PGP public keys are distributed to establish a trust relationship comparing it with the approach taken for the Public Key Infrastructures (PKI)
Pretty Good Privacy uses multiple public keys .Each user has a encryption key that is public and a private key that is known only to the user. Encryption is done using the receiver private key and when they receive it they can decrypt it using their private key.
Both the encrypted message and the shorter key that is formed using algorithm is sent to the receiver who uses the receivers private key to decrpyt the short key and that key to decrpyt the message.
The algorithm used here generates a hash from the users name and other signature information. To generate hashcode PGP uses MD5 Algorithm. Hashcode is encrypted with the senders private key and further uses senders public key to decrpyt the hashcode .
Hence PGP public keys are distributed to establish a trust relationship comparing it with the approach taken for the Public Key Infrastructures (PKI).
PGP is free source and we can easily download and use it for our security.
