Answer #1

The right answer is 4 chromosomes will be present after completion of meiosis.

Meiosis is a type of cell division in which produces daughter cells having exactly half the number of chromosomes present in the parent cells.

A parent ( diploid cell having 2n chromosomes) produces four daughter cells( haploid cells having n chromosomes). Thus we see that after meiosis the chromosome number reduces to half in the offsprings( from 2n to n).

Given, before meiosis sperm cell (diploid) has 8 chromosomes.

i.e. 2n = 8

So, n= 8/2

n= 4 chromosomes.

Thus the chromosome number gets reduced to half from 8 to 4 after completion of meiosis.

Final answer: 4 chromosomes
