Cartilage is the flexible but strong supportive tissue ,it is avascular and lacks blood vessels ,These do not have regerative capacity ,it contains the gelatinous ground substance called chindriotin sulfate embeded with collagen and elastic protein fibers so it is found in many locales which needs support ,flexible and resistance to compressions .They are 3 types of cartilages

1. hyaline ; supportive tissues such as nose ,ears ,trachea ,it reduces the friction between the bony surfaces

2. elastic ; it is present in the auricle of the ear ,it provides support but tolerates distortion without damage

3. fiber ; pads within the knee joint between the pubic bones of pelvis ,function is to resist compressions
