Question

(5) Oil is being pumped from a refinery to a distribution center. The pipe has a length L 1000 m, diameter D-30 cm, and friction factor f-0.015. The change in elevation between the refinery and distribution center is H-10 m up. The pump power required to pump Q-o2 m3/s is P-70 kW. Calculate the pump efficiency and the power required to pump 2Q (i.e. 0.4 m/s). Ignore local losses including the inlet and outlet velocity head and assume that the inlet and outlet are at atmospheric pressure.
