ANSWER -

In animal cells, cytokinesis occurs by formation of a cell plate - It is a false statement.

The correct statement is - In plant cells, cytokinesis occurs by formation of a cell plate.

CYTOKINESIS -

  • It is the process of Cytoplasm division to form two daughter cells.
  • Cytokinesis usually begins before nuclear division is completed.
  • The process of cytokinesis in animal and plant cells are different.

Cytokinesis In Plants cell -

  • In plants cells and other cells that have rigid cell wall, the cytoplasm is divided in a different way.
  • In plants cells vesicles formed by the golgi apparatus fuse with the midline of the dividing cell and form a Cell Plate.
  • A cell plate is a membrane bound cell wall that forms across the middle of the plant cell.
  • A new cell wall then forms on both sides of the cell plate.
  • When cytokinesis complete, the cell plate seprate the plant cell into two plant cells.

Cytokinesis in Animal Cells -

  • Animal cells undergoes cytokinesis through the formation of a Cleave Furrow.
  • Microfilament attached to plasma membrane and forms a ring around equator of cell. This ring contracts like a drawstrings and divides the cell into two parts.

Thus the given statement is wrong

Plant cells forms cell plate during cytokinesis .
