Describe an experiment that you could use to determine if a new cancer drug works to combat this cancer. Be sure to include details such as the experimental method, the independent variable, dependent variable, and control variables.
Requirements -
Liquid mammalian culture medium
Cancerous mammalian cells
Orbital Shaker
spectrophotometer
Newly discovered drug, X
Distilled water
Procedure -
1. Prepare stock solution of the newly discovered drug and perform its different dilution. Say, stock is 10%, prepare 0.05, 0.1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5%.
2. In liquid mammalian cell culture medium, incubate 1 microlitre of cancerous mammalian cells. Put this conical flask in an orbital Shaker overnight.
3. Remove the conical flask from the orbital Shaker in the morning and now take 1 ml of this media and add 9 ml of freshly prepared same media so that it gets diluted 10 times.
4. Now Plate 1 microlitre of the diluted cell solution prepared in step 3 to a suitable mammalian cell culture medium. Prepare many such plates. Incubate them for 3 to 4 days.
5. You have various concentrations of the newly discovered drug as pee step number 1. Now incubate 10 micro litres of each of these tubes of different concentration to each of the cell culture plates prepared in step number 4. So, that in the end you have 7 plates (0.05, 0.1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5%).
6. Incubate each of the plate for 2 to 3 days and then observe after an interval of of 2-2 days.
Results and discussions
If you are able to see lumps of cells growing on the plate, then that newly discovered drug is not inhibiting the growth of cancerous cells. But if you are not able to see lumps of cells on the plate, then the newly discovered drug is successful in controlling the growth of cancerous cells. Also you need to determine the percentage of drug at which it is able to control the growth of cancerous cells because not all concentrations of the drug would be effective in controlling cancer.

Think of observation then form a question and hypothesis. Then,
design an experiment you could do to test your hypothesis. Make
sure the experimental design is detailed and define all of your
variables (the dependent variable, the independent variable, the
controlled variable, designing the procedure, level of treatment,
replication, the control. )

What experiment could you do to determine what level of the pesticide ATRAZINE is toxic to humans in either the short term or long term? Describe the experiment including the independent, dependent, control variables, the planned method, and hypothesis.
Part I. Understanding What Makes an Experiment 1) Please identify the 3 vital components of an experiment. After identifying each component, write at least one sentence elaborating on/explaining each component (10 points) Answer – The most conventional type of experiment involves three major pairs of components: independent and dependent variables, pretesting and post testing, and experimental and control groups. An experiment examines the effects of independent variable on a dependent variable. 1- Manipulate at least one independent variable. This means...
Discuss the method you would use to set up an experiment of an outbreak that could occur today. What data would you want to include? How would you control your variables?
You have been hired to study a new antibiotic produced by streptomyces colicolor. The drug has isolated after isolation and identification of streptomyces colicolor using a device known as the chip. your advisor wants to find out the mechanism of action of the drug and determine whether it has bactericidal or bacteriostatic effects. a) What experiment could you do to determine the cellular target of the drug. briefly discuss two experiments b) After many months of experiments and hard work,...
design a true experiment investigating the extent to which neighborhood factors lead to voting behaviors. You can feel free to further specify the independent and dependent variables as you elaborate on your experimental design. Be sure to explain how your true experiment incorporated the vital components you describe above.
Psychology 120 Class 1.Describe positive and negative correlation briefly in your own words. Proved unique examples of both. Explain them in your own words and illustrate using diagrams. 2. A psychologist is interested in testing the effects of a new drug on reducing depression. Write down the hypothesis for this experiment. Identify the independent variable, the dependent variable, an experimental group and control group.
Describe how you could use regression analysis to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or a life situation. Include a description of the decision, what would be the independent and dependent variables, and how data could ideally be collected to calculate the regression equation. **Answers must be at least 2 paragraphs**
Hello Experts. Describe how you could use regression analysis to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or a life situation. 1.With the mixed copolymer experiment, it was determined that AAC specifies one of the three amino acids: threonine, asparagine, or glutamine. Describe a triplet binding assay experiment that can be used to determine which of the three amino acids is specified by the codon AAC. You will need to include the ingredients that must be added to each tube analyzed in the experiment. Describe the experimental result that would be obtained if AAC specifies asparagine. 2. Briefly describe the difference(s)...
