Bacteria are found in range of environment and perform important ecological function in our ecosystem

• Bacteria help in recycling of important elements like carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen etc.
• They decompose the dead and decaying material like rotten leaves and add organic matter to the soil
• They perform processes like nitrogen fixation , denitrification and nitrification for example rhizobium and anabema etc.
• Bacteria may be heterotrophs, photoautotrophs or chemoautotrophs.
