Chromosomes are composed of two strands during certain stages of cell division.
Chromosome is made up two strands known as sister chromatids which are joined to each other at the centromere. These sister chromatids are exact copies of each other, that results after DNA replication during S phase of the cell cycle. Each chromosome is made up of two chromatids during metaphase of the cell cycle, in which they are aligned in the equator of the cell after which they separate and move to opposite poles of the cell.

44. The mitotic spindle (the "ropes" that pull chromatids apart during cell division) A. Is composed of chromosomes and moves by itself during mitosis. B. Is only seen during interphase. C. Is composed of microtubules and associated proteins. It helps pull chromosomes to opposite ends of a dividing cell duri D. Is composed of microtubules and associated proteins. It helps pull chromosomes to opposite ends of a dividing cell duri
Number of Chromosomes in Human Cell at Difference Stages of Melosis Identify the number of chromosomes in a typical human GERM cell during each stage of meiosis. For each stage, choose either 23 or 46 chromosomes. - Prophase - Metaphase 1 Anaphase - Telophase A 23 - Prophase II B. 46 - Metaphase II - Anaphase 11 - Telophase 11

Meiosis is composed of two chromosomal division called Meiosis I and Meiosis II. Each of the two divisions consists of Prophase, Prometaphase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase and each of these phases is designated I or II according to which division it is a part of. Be sure you know what happens in each phase in regard to the chromosomes, chromatids, spindles and the nuclear envelope. During which phase does synapsis occur and crossing over begin? And in which division, Meiosis I or Meiosis II...
Draw the stages of meiosis for an animal cell where 2n (diploid number of chromosomes) =4 chromosomes. Label the cleavage furrow, cell plate, spindle fibers, & centrioles (if present for that stage). Diagram the stages of meiosis for a plant cell where the diploid number is 6 chromosomes. Label the cleavage furrow, cell plate, spindle fiber, & centrioles (if present for that stage).
How would factors (drugs/chemicals) that affect the movements of chromosomes during mitosis affect normal cell division or serve as ways to treat cancer?
Sometimes there are mistakes when chromosomes are pulled apart during cell division. Match the answers to the following questions. If nondisjunction happens during Meiosis I, how many gametes are affected? Choose... If nondisjunction happens during Meiosis II, how many gametes are affected? Choose... Nondisjunction can lead to someone born with Trisomy 21. This is also known as what syndrome? Choose... What does trisomy 21 mean? Choose...
1. summarize 3 stages of interphase 2. Discuss the behavior of chromosomes during the various stages of mitosis
To Understand cell division, you must understand the structure

Assume that n = 2 in a cell. Draw schematic diagrams to follow the chromosomes of this cell as the cell goes through the various phases of the cell cycle. Be sure to include the stages of mitosis and cytokinesis. Use large and small chromosomes to differentiate between the two chromosomes, and use red for the maternal chromosomes and blue for the paternal chromosomes.
