It is the modulator of plasma membrane behaviour. It has control over cell surface proteins. It restrict the movement of certain proteins in lipid bilayer. Cortex is the main determinant of cell shape. Presence of protein spectrin helps to create a network by cross linking actin filaments. This network and spectrin protein is attached to transmembrane protein by attachment proteins.
