A study was done to see if in a marathon, older siblings are more inclined to run
with their younger siblings and finish together rather than distance themselves and actually
compete. A random sample of 10 pairs of siblings were tracked to see what rank they
finished in the race.
Here, we would like to see if there is significant difference in the ranks of a pair of siblings.
If the difference between the ranks of a pair of siblings is low, it'll indicate that they tend to finish the race together, but if this difference is high it'll indicate that they distanced themselves.
Therefore, the variable of interest will the difference in the ranks of a pair siblings. The parameter of interest will be the mean of this difference.
We will conduct a paired t test.

For the question: A study was done to see if in a marathon, older siblings are more inclined to run with their younger siblings and finish together rather than distance themselves and actually compete. A random sample of 10 pairs of siblings were tracked to see what rank they finished in the race. What is the independent variable and what is the dependent variable?
Activity 1: Matched pairs or independent/separate samples? For each of the prompts below, decide whether the parameter of interest is a mean difference (matched pairs, ) or a difference in means (independent samples, ). Students want to know if it matters where they have their cell phone screen repaired. A sample of eight cell phones with broken screens was obtained. For each phone, an estimate for the screen repair in U.S. dollars ($) was obtained from a local store, where...
(20) 5. A study was done to see how some of the characteristics of a worker's employer (like the size of the employer, or how long it has been in business) affect the wages of that worker. The data for the study came from a survey of workers that asked about the worker's personal characteristics, but also got the name and address of the worker's employer so that employer characteristics could be measured as well. The sample size was 1067....
2. Retention Test Scores A random sample of non-English majors at a selected college was used in a study to see if the student retained more from reading a 19th century novel or by watching it in DVD form. Each student was assigned one novel to read and a different one to watch, and then they were given a hundred point quiz on each novel. The test results are shown. Book 90 80 90 75 80 9084 L DVD 85...

CASE STUDY: Pumas, long known as solitary carnivores, are more social than previously thought, according to a new Panthera study published in the peer-reviewed journal Science Advances. The findings provide the first evidence of complex social strategies in any solitary carnivore -- and may have implications for multiple species, including other wild cats around the world. "It's the complete opposite of what we've been saying about pumas and solitary species for over 60 years," said lead author and Panthera Puma...

Assignment 5 will be way different. It will be more like what
you will receive in a programming shop. By that I mean that some
things are built for you and others you will need to create or
finish. P.S. part of your grade will include: Did you add in the
required files? Did you rename your project? does your linear
