In 3 to 4 sentences, explain why there exists a correlation between electrostatic potential and acid strength? Does Adipic Acid follow this trend or does it appear to be an outlier? Explain.

A correlation between electrostatic potential and acid strength exists due to the acids ability to be a proton donor, and the dissociation of the aqueous solution. The lower the pKa the stronger the acid because the acid is more electronegative making the acid more stable, and causing the electrostatic potential to therefore increase.

Yes adipic acid will also follow this trend because pKa of adipic acid is approximately 4 to 5. Hence, adipic acid is strong acid thus it will follow correlation between electrostatic potential and acidic strength.
