As we know that stomata opens due to turgidity of guard cell .This turgidity happens due coming of water inside the guard cell.As we know that water moves from high water potential to low water potential, hence THE POTENTIAL OF WATER SHOULD BE LESS THAN IN THE LEAF.i.e. -0.3 Mpa.

I.e. more negative than -0.3Mpa.
