Two Remedies that can optimise the traffic flow in the cities which has high traffic volume are as follows:

1. Smart Traffic signals management: Here smart traffic signals indicates the signals with censors. These type of signals can identify the traffic volume in any direction and accordingly it can open the traffic for that direction which has higher traffic volume. This has the advantages over the signals which is working based on fixed time period irrespective of the traffic volume. These signals respond according to the demand and can reduce the accident probability. Because these types of signals work on the traffic volume so the stopping time on each signal can vary throughout a day.
2. General awareness programme: These types of programme can be helpful to aware the people about the congestion of traffic flow. It can be conducted in schools, colleges, offices etc once in a month. In these programmes, focus should be to aware the people about the disadvantages of increased traffic volume and also guide them to use public transport, cycle transport etc. For the use of cycle transport a separate lane must be constructed which is free from busy roads, pedestrian. Separate cycle stand can be provided from bus/train stop to offices/Institutions. To make these more effective Government can organise monthly seminar where they can give some award to the people who has used more public transport rather than private transport. All these activities can be monitored by well designed application.
