It's all about looking at other people's perspective especially those you lead. Thats why its important as a leader to not be selfish in the process of leading. If your selfish things like that come from leadership can be abused and leave subordinates unhappy and unwilling you lead them. People that feel powerless and disengaged in the workplace is a recipe for disaster from a leadership standpoint. This is where the statement of “We become most powerful when we give our own power away” comes into play because it empowers people those you lead. By giving power to get power is the way to build trust with those you lead makes your job as a leader much easier. It takes a true leader to be able to do this and that's why you can't be selfish as a leader because you have to be able to empower consultants able to make decisions sometimes without you. Being able to take a step back and be the support and installing confidence in consultants is how leaders are able to gain power back due to giving.
