NOR are also known as secondary constrictions. Chromosome with secondary constriction is known as satellite chromosome ( It is Satellite Chromosome, must not be confused with satellite DNA). In a metaphase these chromosome show two constrictions one is the centromere and other at tip giving a knob like appearance. NOR have tandom repeats for ribosomal DNA genes. NOR are important for the formation of nucleolus.
