From strongest to weakest

Ionic bonding> covalent bonding> hydrogen bonding >dipole dipole> London dispersion forces.

  • Firstly their are two types of interactions strong interaction and weak interaction.
  • Ionic bonding and covalent bonding comes under strong interaction while hydrogen bonding, dipole - dipole interaction, and London forces comes under weak interactio.
  • Ionic bonding is stronger than covalent bonding as the binding energy is higher in case of ionic
  • Among weak interaction hydrogen bonding is higher as it has greater binding energy than other two.
  • London forces and dipole - dipole interactions are known as Vander wall forces and it is the weakest forces
  • Among these two dipole - dipole is stronger than London forces because in London forces temporary dipoles are induces in molecule for attraction.
