This week’s textbook( Introduction to information technology: The new media: an introduction by Terry Flew and Richard Smith) chapter (mobile new media) states that “Although watches continue to be sold as a fashion accessory, many young people have stopped purchasing watches because their phone is their watch, their timer, their alarm clock, and their calendar. It is also, as we will see, their music and video player” (Flew and Smith, 2017, p. 103). With the multiuse smartphone supplanting these older devices, do Millennials watch TV anymore? If so, do current viewing habits mirror traditional viewing habits?

answer-

yes, it is very true because new media like mobile, online streaming has started to change the old traditional media like TV, watching time in wrist watch etc. New media is the technology which is related to mobile and online devices which has changed the way we consume the media now a days.

traditionally, wrist watches were used to look at time but now a days, people uses their mobile devices to see time, make schedules of their meetings or other events, also there are new smart watches which helps to sync the watch with mobile devices in which our fitness status, messages etc.we can start or stop alarms with the use of mobile technology.

Not only watching time but people are also changed their ways to watch TV shows and movies because with increase us of internet and new media devices like mobile, tablets and laptops. people stream these entertainment contents online like use of netflix, hulu or amazon prime.

I think Millennials do not watch TV anymore like i said above. people uses their phones and tablets or laptops to consume their media like shows or movies.this changes does not show mirror habbits because traditionally people has to watch ads, and wait for the show after the ad is completed but now views with use of mobile and online streaming can skip them which was not possible traditional viewing.

all i can say that new and multiple use of mobile devices and other new media has completely changed our media consumption habbits.

*hope above answer would help you.
