write a review on the existence and growth of cities. Please be sure to think about how geography affects economic activity.
(a) Central drivers of urban population growth in industrialized economies. Secondly, the provision of transport and accommodation. Second, comforts. Thirdly, the effects of agglomeration, especially those relating to human capital and entrepreneurship. And fourthly, to particular cities or sectors, technology, and shocks. These drivers depend first on regressions of cross-city growth. The detection of causal factors in the transversal regression of city population growth is fraught with difficulties. Applications of this form of approach to cross-country sales growth per capita have been rightly criticized in the past.
Factors for urban population growth within a nation are therefore much smaller than the number of potential causes of world-wide income growth because several variables can be viewed as a first approximation, kept constant within a single country. Over the past decade, the city growth literature has also frequently discussed fundamental inferences, focusing in particular on instrumental variables. City growth factors are closely related to the main modeling methods used to research urban economics: a monocentric model for housing and transportation, a cross-city model that balances the differentials in services, models of micro-founded agglomeration economies for agglomeration effects and human resources, and random growth models for technology and sectoral shocks.
Some future engines of urban development have yet to be investigated. The greatest difference is the study of the impact of city and state governments, local policies and public finances. Moreover, several empirical results should be improved, and alternative empirical approaches should be established to validate them. While a compelling analytical framework that simultaneously explores all current drivers of urban growth is too ambitious a target, it is not satisfactory to investigate drivers of urban growth in isolation.
City development theoretically offers a unique insight into the wider problem of economic growth and technical innovation determinants.
(b) Place and environment, among other networks, have significant effects on income rates and revenue growth through their impacts on transport costs, disease burdens, and agricultural productivity. Geography also tends to influence decisions taken in economic policy. Many geographical regions that were not conducive to modern economic growth have high population densities and are experiencing rapid population growth particularly disadvantageous are regions far from coasts and ocean-navigable rivers, where the transportation costs of international trade are high, and tropical regions which carry a heavy disease burden. In addition, a significant portion of population growth in these geographically deprived areas is projected to occur over the next thirty years.

1. think about how scarcity affects the decisions we make as individuals. Please list three goods that you personally consume on a regular basis. Then, explain the tradeoffs you have to make when you decide how much of these goods to purchase. 2. Next, please describe one positive and negative externality for a common good or activity (does not have to be one of the above). 3. Finally, please write a sentence or two describing one opportunity cost of taking...
This week's discussion is on the Social Determinants of Health and Healthy cities. Think about the town or city where you live How ‘healthy’ is your city/town and why do you think this? What are the connections between your town/city and social determinants of health such as poverty, education, violence and so forth? What policies need to change to make your city/town more healthy What do you think about Evelyne's point about not calling physical isolation 'social distancing'?

please answer thourghly in one page minimum. Most economists today believe that earlier models of growth, which focused on physical capital development, are flawed. More recent research has focused on the role of geography (e.g., see Jeffrey Sachs, and Jared Diamond) and institutions (e.g., Daron Acemoglu and Niall Ferguson). a. Carefully and fully explain each of these perspectives? b. Can you reconcile these views? (Are they mutually exclusive?0 c. Do you think one view better explains economic growth?
Think about current economic conditions in The United States? What is driving the economy in its current expansion or contraction phase? What is helping to maintain economic growth, demand, supply, and/or inflation rates within their current ranges? What may trigger the end of a particular trend? Please use specific local examples where possible, and reflect on how national trends may relate to your local economic conditions as well.
Think back to your home town (or a town that you know well), and write about what your town was like 5-6 years before the Great Recession of 2008, what occurred during the recession and what it is like today. Make note of economic activity, town budget issues, conditions in the community, and issues that have affected your friends and your family. Compare and contrast these time periods.
a. Describe the three pillars of productivity growth. b.Why is a market economy susceptible to coordination failures that can lead to unemployment and inflation? What do you think can be done to rectify these failures? c. Unemployment is socially wasteful. Why? Does the existence of unemployment insurance eliminate the economic costs of unemployment? c. Several countries in the world have failed to "converge" with industrialized countries. What does this mean about their economic growth rates? Explain why poorer countries have...
