Strengths
The DJ business has lower costs associated with it in the start making the barriers to entry very low. Since the size of the business is smaller it is easy to manage the business and have a good online presence. The social quotient of a DJ is generally high making it easy to spread the word about the business in the immediate network for promotions.
With small size of the business overhead costs of the business are quite less and Social movement of employees impress audience much more than other services, does not require much training. Unique talent of DJ in place is the main reason which makes market entry is complex in nature.
Meet new people and showcase skills to get invited to bigger parties as DJ which makes Marketing cost and strategy are very less and easy to target respectively. Becoming famous in evident with high level of music skill and adapting to change of taste.
Weaknesses
The earnings and income in the DJ business in low as compared to other businesses and the chances of landing more number of clients is low since they may not trust a new name in the market since DJ is hired for important events which if spoiled will reflect directly on the client.
Low turnover means there are very few people who can give best talent in DJ and if there are then it cannot be much profitable to many people without talent. Limited resources and low cash inflow makes this industry weaker. Starting of the career is very difficult in DJ, it is advised to take small roles as DJ in private parties and then make a name from it. Second chances are very rare, that is being the best is what needs to be done. Equipment’s needs to maintained properly, as DJ's performance is intense.
Opportunities
With the advent of technology, new computer tools and modern equipment are available for the DJ business which can help them match the global standards and learn advanced skills. They can publish their work online to gain more popularity. Using enhanced versions of technology attracts larger customer base cause it brings more sound effects which are liked by audience.
Telecasting services and expanding to various locations has raised the market share of DJ as we can telecast the show to wide range of audience. Looking up for events in local areas or application for bigger stage is available in today's world.
Creating music using other music, such as combination Electronics and classical, etc. Learning new techniques of improving skills related to the profession and better handling of upgraded equipment. Creating a social media presence will help in reaching out to majority of clients and will help to achieve a better job.
Threats
Threats are again due to the advent of technology many aspirant DJs are able to enter the market by using sophisticated tools making competition very high among the DJs. The threats of changing the music taste of consumers will also pose a similar threat to the DJ business.
Changing trends of music in the industry which can be a challenge because this can make DJ business behind the new music trend. Enhancing competition and incurring higher costs in attaining licenses for the music.DJ business is like electronics business where every now and then something new comes up, so DJ’s have to be ready with it or their careers might not be better.
Content of the song should connect to the listeners, creating a fan base is difficult in the competitive age. DJ’s job is based on events, so earning is based on the number of jobs done, which is low. Failure to adapt with new technology will cause trouble in stepping up because technology is dynamic and requires update in order to survive in competition and if DJ is not updated with new music technology then they can be get out of the competition.
