How do you change the distance between the plates of a
capacitor?
thank you for your help!
We can change distance between two parallel plates of capacitor by maintaining same Potential Difference across the plates.
This can be done by changing the emf of power supply sources.
C= Q1/V2= Q2/V2 = Constant.
In this manner we can change distance between plats of parallel plates without effing their capcitance.

a parallel-plate capacitor of capacitance C and distance d between plates is fully charged from a battery of voltage V, and then disconnected. the plates of the capacitor are slowly pulled to the half of the initial distance (d/2). a) The charged stored on the capacitor is: b)The voltage across the capacitor is now: c)How does the energy stored in the capacitor change after this process: d) How does the electric field inside the capacitor change after this process:
If you double the area of a parallel-plate capacitor and reduce the distance between the plates by a factor of four, how is the capacitance affected?
A capacitor with plates separated by distance do is charged to a voltage difference ΔVC. All wires and batteries are disconnected, then the two plates are pushed together (with insulated handles so charges cannot flow) to a new separation distance that was half the original distance ( ). Which of the following quantities will be doubled as a result of this new separation distance? a. The capacitance of the capacitor, C. b. The energy stored in the capacitor, U. c....

A parallel plate capacitor has square plates with sides of length 11 cm. The distance between the plates is 2 mm. The plates are charged up to 20volts. Part A What is the electric field between the plates? Express your answer using three significant figures. Electric field = N/C Part B What is the amount of charge on each plate? charge = C Part C What is the capacitance? Capacitance = μF Part D What is the energy stored by...
Prelab Problem: You have a parallel plate capacitor with circular plates of radius r = 10.0 cm separated d = 2.00 mm. a) What is the capacitance of your capacitor? b) You need a capacitor with capacitance C = 840 pF, so you wish to modify your capacitor to get the desired capacitance. You are not able to change the distance between the plates or the size of the plates, but you could insert an insulating material between the plates....
The electric field strength between the plates of a simple air capacitor is equal to the voltage across the plates divided by the distance between them. When a voltage of 106. V is put across the plates of such a capacitor an electric field strength of 4.1 kV is measured. ст Write an equation that will let you calculate the distance d between the plates. Your equation should contain only symbols. Be sure you define each symbol. Your equation: ?...
A parallel plate capacitor has a capacitance of 400uF. If the distance between the parallel plates is 15mm and the dielectric between the plates is air (k=1), what is the area of each parallel plate.
The separation distance between the two plates of a parallel plate capacitor is 2.00 cm. An electron is at rest near the negative plate. When it is released, it accelerates and reaches the positive plate with a kinetic energy of 7.80 ✕ 10−15 J. What is the magnitude of the electric field in the region between the plates of the capacitor?
Capacitor B has a capacitance, Co. If the distance between the plates decreases by a factor of 8, determine (in terms of Co) what the capacitance of capacitor B will be.
